Today's Tip

Handwrite your journaling on cardstock. Cut it into strips and adhere them to your layout with glue or staple them in order. Give your page a random, fun look.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Today's Tip

Want to create a unique handwritten title? Handwrite with wide enough space between each letter. Cut out each handwritten letter and mat it on a cardstock. Be amazed by how your handwritten title will look like a unique font!

Quote of the Week.....

Scrap Paper Storage

  • How do you store your scrap paper?
  • Do you have "rules" outlining what you keep and what you recycle?
  • What do you generally do with your scraps?
I've been going through a big box of scraps and making cards with a lot of it.
A lot I have deemed too small to warrant holding on to and using up space,
and a lot I have cut down into useable sizes and stored in a plastic divided case.

What do you do?

Today's Tip

Customize your patterned paper by layering a piece of vellum or printed transparency over it.

Today's Tip

Add on a premade envelope to your layout to tuck in the extra journaling. Give your envelope a unique look by customizing it to your own preference. You can also use library pocket to tuck in your extra journaling too.

Today's Tip

Lace a strip of ribbon through punched holes along one side of the border to create a pretty-looking page accent.

BEAUTIFUL Craft Room!!!!

OMG, I LOVE this room!!!  Gonna get mine cleaned up soon, just you watch.  LOL.......

Today's Tip

Run out of adhesive dots to hold down your ribbon to the page? Fret not, tack down the ribbons using brads at each end.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Today's Tip

You don't have to mat every single photo on your scrapbook layout, unless you want it to stand out from the background. Always mat your focal-point photo though.

Monday, March 22, 2010

Today's Tip

Choose a focal-point photo. Treat other photos as "accessories" that help you to tell the rest of the story. As we read from left to right, the top-left hand corner is an excellent point for your focal-point photo when you have several photos you want to use on your layout.

Older News from ProvoCraft (I missed it)

Cricut announced it is going to retire FOUR "Solutions" cartridges: Christmas, Blackletter, San Serif, and Street Sign.

Cricut Cake

Here is a video found on youtube of the new Cricut Cake machine.

There are links to other videos once you are in YouTube.

What does everyone think of this?  Any "cake" people out there?

News from Provocraft

Provocraft announced 6 new cartridges and 3 Cricut Cake cartridges.

There are 3 cartridges that are supposed to be released in March, Give a Hoot, Just Because, and Preserves. Serenade and the others recently announced will be released in April!!

Soon to be RETIRED:  Stamped and Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridges!!

Today's Tip

Sticker problem. If you have ever put down a sticker in the wrong place, here is a possible solution. Use the paper the sticker comes on (waxy side up) and slowly slide it under the sticker. It takes a little time but it saves your sticker and might even save your page.

Today's Tip

Punch holes in raw chipboard to make it a more decorative element. The Crop-a-Dile cuts through chipboard like butter!

Today's Tip

Try using themed products on unrelated projects. I’ve used stickers from a wedding sheet on a layout about pizza and another about dinner guests. This way you get more bang for your buck!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!!!

REMINDER: Drink your WATER!

Today's Tip

No more e’s in your letter sticker pack? Try an upside down 3! I’ve done this tons of times. In fact I have also changed a lower case g into a y and an h, and an ampersand (&) into an S. It all depends on the font, so take a closer look to see what you can improvise

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Today's Tip

Place embellishments in odd numbers like three and five for more visual impact

Monday, March 15, 2010

Today's Tip

Glossy Accents by Ranger is also a great adhesive for lumpy stuff and clear elements

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Today's Tip

Not sure if a stamp is the perfect design for a certain spot? Stamp it first with a solvent ink like StazOn on a piece of plastic and lay over your project in progress to check. Clear inserts or packaging that come with products are handy for this.

Whatcha Up To?

Got busy this week, and weekend, and didn't get my posting done.

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day in Victoria and we spent a good portion of the day in the garden cleaning up, clipping, pruning, weeding, chopping, and digging.  Got a lot done and LOVE to see the progress, but still a lot more to do!!!!!

A little bit of time spent in my craft room, but no finished projects to share.  Lots to get done this week!!!

What did you do?

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

What did you do last Saturday???

I spent the entire day scrapbooking with friends.  I got four beautiful (well, in my eyes) layouts done and I am so inspired to do more!!!!!

Alas, I must go do my "other job", so will update later and post my new layouts.

Has anybody else been creative lately????  What have you been working on?
